  The Italian men’s national team lifts the UEFA EURO title for the second time in their history, bringing an end to a 53-year trophy draught in the European championship. They defeated England on penalties in a final that was played at Wembley Stadium in England.

  Argentine football icon Lionel Messi lifts the Copa América trophy for the first time in his career after he led his country to a 1-0 victory over Brazil.  Forward Ángel Di María broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute of the first half.
