About Alain Chabat
The Algerian-born French performer and filmmaker is best-known as co-founder of the comedy group "Les Nuls" (The Lame-os). He set up the group with fellow comedians and performers Dominique Farrugia, Bruno Carrete and others in 1987. He also provided the voice for the "Shrek" franchise's title character in the French translation. His film credits include "French Twist", "Chouchou", "Le Cousin" and "RRRrrr!!!".
Career
Chabat wrote and directed one of his notable works "Didier" in 1997. The comedy film, which was produced by Claude Beri, saw the actor star alongside actors Jean-Pierre Bacri and Isabelle Gélinas.
The actor appeared in "Happily Ever After", a 2004 film written and directed by Yvan Attal. He played the role of Georges and starred alongside Johnny Depp, Angie David, and Emmanuelle Seigner. The filmmaker produced the 2012 American comedy-drama film “A Thousand Words”, which starred Eddy Murphy as Jack McCall and himself as Christian Léger de la Touffe.
He created and hosted the game show "Burger Quiz" which aired on Canal+ from 2001-02.
Chabat’s other television appearances include "La Classe américaine", "Kaamelott" (2007) and "Le grand restaurant II" (2011).
Awards and Nominations
He is a multiple César Award winner and nominee. At the César Awards, he received the "Best Debut" honor for his 1998 work "Didier". He was also nominated for a César Award for “Best Actor”.
