About Alan Parker
Alan Parker was a renowned English filmmaker who was instrumental in the production of lots of movies and series including “Fame”, “The Life of David Gale” and “Angel Heart”. Before entering into the movie industry, he worked with an advertising firm as an office boy and a copywriter. All through that period, he wrote ads and essays at his free time. This gave him the opportunity to direct advertisements and other videos.
He shot his first movie in 1973, which was entitled “No Hard Feelings”. Prior to that, he was pivotal in the production of the 1971 movie called “Melody”.
Family
He is the son of William Leslie Parker and Elsie Ellen. In 1966, he got married to Annie Inglis, but they were separated in 1992. Before his death, he was wedded to Lisa Moran. He left behind five children including English screenwriter, Nathan Parker.
Achievements
Throughout his 32 years in the industry, he won lots of accolades including BAFTA awards, Oscars, and Golden Globes. In 1995, he became a “Commander of the Order of the British Empire”, and was knighted seven years later.
Trivia
In 1998, he headed British Film Institute’s Board of Governors.
