About Alan White
He is a British drummer and songwriter, who is mostly known for his time with the English progressive rock collective called, "Yes". Alan White became a member of the rock band, "Plastic Ono Band" in 1969 after its founder, John Lennon asked him to perform at the Toronto Rock And Roll Revival festival.
He got on board with “Yes” in 1972, serving as a replacement for the group's initial drummer, Bill Bruford. He became the band's longest serving member after the untimely demise of bassist, Christ Squire.
White is credited for having worked on more than 50 albums belonging to artists such as The Venturea, Ginger Baker, Joe Cocker and more. Some of his albums are "Ramshackled" (1976), "Run with the Fox" (1981), "Some Time in New York City" (1972), "Keys to Ascension 2" (1992), "Fly from Here" (2011), "Heaven & Earth" (2014), and more.
Family Life
His brother is fellow British drummer, Steve White. He got married to Gigi White in 1981. His children are Jesse and Casse White.
Achievements
He was installed into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" in 2017.
The Guitar Center of Los Angeles bestowed him a "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2006.
White and his “Yes” band members were recipients of the "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" at the 1985 Grammy Awards. Prior to that, they were named the "Best Group" and "British Group" at the 1973 and 1974 NME Awards.
He was nominated for the "Best Music Video, Long Form" at the 1987 Grammy Awards.
