About Alan Wilder
Alan Wilder’s love for music became visible during his days in high school when he performed in the school’s music band. He later joined a number of music groups before he was hired by English collective Depeche Mode in 1982 to replace Vince Clarke.
His first work with the group was on the 1983 single titled "Get the Balance Right!". Initially used as a keyboardist, he helped the band to record many successful albums including “Some Great Reward” and “Songs of Faith and Devotion” before announcing his departure in 1995.
Solo project
In 1986, while with Depeche Mode, he started his side project which was known as Recoil. That same year, the group dropped their maiden album known as “1 + 2”. As one of the key components of the band, he has helped them to release loads of albums with some titled “Hydrology” and “Unsound Methods”.
Family
His parents were very supportive at the initial stages of his career. In 1992, he married a lady who’s simply referred to as Theresa.
Education
He was a student of St Clement Danes grammar school.
Achievements
In 2020, he was selected into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Depeche Mode.
Trivia
He has performed with quite a number of bands including The Hitmen, and The Korgis.
At age eight, he started playing the piano.
He has accumulated in excess of 14,000 followers on Instagram.
