About Albert R. Broccoli
As one of the founders of the Eon Productions, and Danjaq, LLC, Albert R. Broccoli is widely considered as the brain behind the James Bond movie franchise. Born in New York City in the United States, Broccoli recorded most of his successes in Britain.
He capitalized on the British government’s policy to provide subsidies to films produced in the country with British casts and crews in the 1950s. He teamed up with Irving Allen to produce on-screen works for Columbia Pictures. The two worked on the 1953 film entitled “The Red Beret”.
Family
He was raised by his parents Kristina Vence and Giovanni Broccoli. Between 1940 and 1945, he was married to Gloria Blondell. His later marriage to Gloria Blondell ended in 1945. He was married to Dana Natol until his death.
His children, Barbara and Wilson Broccoli, have worked on other James Bond movies after the death of their father.
Accolades
He was given the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1981. Nine years later, he had a star placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in his honor.
