About Aldo Leopold
Aldo Leopold was an author, naturalist, philosopher, scientist, forester, ecologist, environmentalist and conservationist. He is famous for his influence on modern environmental ethics’ development. His nature writings also influenced the wilderness conservation movement. He is known best by most people as the author of the non-fiction book “A Sand County Almanac: And Sketches Here and There”.
Family Life
His parents’ names were Clara Starker and Carl Leopold. He was raised alongside three siblings. He was married to Estella Bergere, who bore him five children: wildlife biologist Aldo Starker Leopold, hydrologist Luna B. Leopold, naturalist Nina Leopold Bradley, plant physiologist Aldo Carl Leopold and botanist Estella Leopold.
Death
He died on April 21, 1948 from a heart attack in the course of fighting a fire that had broken out on his neighbor’s property.
