About Alex Karras
Alex Karras was a multi-talented American entertainer who had a career in professional wrestling, football, acting and television broadcasting. He initially began his career as a footballer, where he was privileged to play in the collegiate league. After making it to the professional scene, he was picked by the Detroit Lions during the 1958 NFL Draft, and played a total of 12 seasons for the club.
Family Life
His father was Dr. George Karras, and his mother was called Emmeline Wilson. His siblings are Lou and Ted Karras Sr. He was married to Joan Jurgensen from 1958 till 1976. He later married Canadian actress, Susan Clark in 1980 until his death in 2012. His children are George, Renald, Peter, Katie and Alex Karras Jr.
Achievements
Karras was included in the 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1965 Pro Bowl teams. He was named in the "First-team All-Pro" in 1960, 1961 and 1965.
He was selected into the "NFL 1960s All-Decade team". In 1957, he received the "Outland Trophy".
Trivia
He stood at a height of 6ft 2in.
