About Alexander Kerensky
Alexander Fyodorovich Kerensky was a Russian lawyer who was instrumental in the 1917 Russian Revolution. Following the revolution, he served as Minister of Justice and subsequently as Minister of War in the newly formed Russian Provisional Government. He also assumed the post of Minister-Chairman for the government.
He is also recognized for defending revolutionaries charged with political crimes and promoting Russia's involvement in World War I. However, he was dissatisfied with the way the tsarist government managed the war effort. When the February Revolution of 1917 erupted, he publicly pushed for the monarchy to collapse.
He was a member of the Petrograd S.R., the Socialist Revolutionaries, The Petrograd Soviet, and Duma, making him a powerful icon of the working class. Throughout 1917, Russia's political climate remained volatile, and the newly established government was toppled by the Lenin-led Bolsheviks and Kerensky was forced to depart the nation.
