About Alexander Pushkin
Alexander Pushkin was a Russian Romantic era poet, novelist and playwright widely regarded as the founder of modern Russian literature and the greatest and most influential of all Russian poets. His notable works include The Captain's Daughter, Eugene Onegin and Ruslan and Ludmila. He was killed at the age of 37 in a duel.
Family Life
His parents were Nadezhda Gannibal and Sergei Pushkin. In 1831, he got married to Natalia Pushkin and fathered four children with her. He and Natalia remained married until his death in 1837.
Trivia
In 1837, after rumors started spreading that his wife Natalia was having an affair with a French immigrant named Georges d'Anthès, he challenged d'Anthès to a duel. By the end of the duel both men were severely injured. Alexander died two days later from his injury.
