About Alice Munro
Alice Munro has garnered a reputation for being a master of short stories. The Canadian writer has been credited with changing the face of short stories mostly through her ability to time the plot forward and backwards, something that used to be uncharacteristic of the genre. Her stories are also mostly set in Huron County, Southwestern Ontario where she grew up.

Family Life
She was born to a farmer, Robert Laidlaw and his schoolteacher wife, Anne Clarke Chamney. She has Scottish and Irish ancestry. She raised three daughters with her ex-husband, James Munro. The couple were married from 1951 to 1972. In 1976, she married cartographer Gerald Fremlin who died in 2013.
Achievements
Her accolades include the Nobel Prize in Literature, Man Booker International Prize, Giller Prize and Governor General’s Award.
Trivia
She is a co-founder of Munro’s Books, a bookstore that has been in existence for over 50 years.
