About Alois Brunner
Alois Brunner was an infamous Austrian Schutzstaffel (SS) officer during World War II. He was widely known as one of the organizers of the “Final Solution” – The Nazi’s plan that was fundamentally designed for the genocide of the Jews during World War II.
Early life
He was originally from Vas, Austria-Hungary. He joined the “Sturmabteilung (SA)” and “Nazi Party” at age 17 and 16 respectively. He was a onetime director of the “Central Office for Jewish Emigration” in Vienna, Australia. In 1939, he worked in the “Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.” He later became the right hand man of Holocaust leader Adolf Eichmann.
Crimes
At the initial stages of World War II, he was responsible for deporting over 45,000 Austrian Jews to Nazi death camps. He oversaw the deportation of approximately 43,000 Jews from Greece while he was a stationed officer at Thessaloniki. Between 1943 and 1944, he was the commander of the “Drancy internment camp.” As commander, he sent over 20000 people to burn in the gas chambers.
Assassination attempts & Death
From 1952 to 2001, he evaded numerous capture missions by many groups, including the “United Nations,” “Klarsfelds” and the “Simon Wiesenthal Center.” He also survived numerous assassination bomb attempts.
Following various information and evidence, he was declared "probably dead" in December 2001.
