About Amedeo Avogadro
Italian scientist Amedeo Avogadro is best recognized as the namesake of Avogadro’s law which came to be through his contribution to molecular theory. He initially practiced ecclesiastical law before making a switch to the study of mathematics and physics which he went on to teach at a high school. His first essay to mention the Avogadro’s hypothesis was published in 1811.
He started his job as a physics professor at the University of Turin 9 years later. His involvement in the Italian unification movement stripped him off his professorship in 1823 but he was recalled a decade later and taught until his death.
Family Life
He was raised as a member of a noble family in the Kingdom of Sardinia. He had six children through his marriage to Felicita Mazzé.
