About Amy Van Dyken
Amy Van Dyken is a popular American swimmer who won six gold medals at the Olympic Games during her active days. She rose to stardom in 1996 when she made her Olympic debut, winning four gold medals at the event.
She also won three gold medals at the World Championships and two at the Pan Pacific Championships before retiring from the sport in 2000.
Other career
Van Dyken has also had a successful career as a broadcaster. She has worked as a reporter for some NFL teams including the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. In 2008, she became one of the hosts of KMXP-FM’s morning show.
She later moved to KPKX-FM before joining Fox Sports Radio where she was a co-host of the show titled “Fox Sports Tonight”.
Family
Before marrying football star Tom Rouen, she was the wife of Alan McDaniel.
Education
After two years at the University of Arizona, she joined Colorado State University.
Achievements
Her numerous honors include Associated Press’ “Female Athlete of the Year”, ESPY’s “Female Athlete of the Year”. She also got a place in the US Olympic Hall of Fame. In 2007, she was selected into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Trivia
A near-fatal ATV accident she had in 2014 left her paralyzed.
She began swimming as a way of overcoming her asthma.
She has also worked as a coach and is best known for her time with Notre Dame Preparatory High School.
