About Andreas Brehme
Andreas Brehme was a former player of 1. FC Kaiserslautern who played for the team from 1981 to 1986. During his time with FC Kaiserslautern, he made 154 appearances and scored 34 goals.
Personal life
Brehme was the son of Bernd Brehme.
He married Pilar Martinez in 1987 and together they had two children namely Ricardo and Alessio Brehme.
HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst & Other Clubs
The German born player made his football debut with HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst club in 1978 and he stayed with the club for two years. At the club, he made 66 appearances out of which he scored 10 goals. He was later signed to FC Saarbrucken in 1980 and played with the club for a year.
Brehme played for other clubs like Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Zaragoza. He played over 100 times and 50 times for Italian side Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, respectively.
Internationally, he played for West Germany U-21, West Germany Olympic and the Germany national team. He was part of the German side that finished runner-up at the Euro 1992 competition. All in all, he made over 80 appearances for his country.
He retired from football in 1998 and after his retirement, he served as the coach for FC Kaiserslautern and SpVgg Unterhaching.
Achievements
During his days with Inter Milan, he assisted the team win the Supercoppa Italiana (1989) and the UEFA Cup (1990-1991) season.
Brehme was named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team in 1990.
With Bayern Munich, he won the Bundesliga title in the 1986/87 season.
He was part of the Inter Milan side that won the Serie A title in 1988/89 season.
FIFA World Cup winner
He steered his nation to first position at the 1990 FIFA World Cup held in Italy. Four years prior to that, he guided Germany to a silver medal at the 1986 FIFA World Cup held in Mexico.
Trivia
He was awarded a Guerin d’oro in 1989.
