Andrew Bryniarski is a former American actor and bodybuilder known for playing Leatherface in the 2003 remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” as well as its sequel.
Childhood
As a young boy, Bryniarski took an early interest in bodybuilding and outdoor sports. He got the opportunity to explore acting after he was scouted during his summer vacation in Hollywood.
Career
His acting career took off in 1990 in the movie “Dragonfight,” where he played a spectator in a bar. The following year, he starred alongside Bruce Willis in “Hudson Hawk,” where he played the character Butterfinger. Bryniarski found more success in other major Hollywood blockbusters, including “Batman Returns,” “Street Fighter,” “Pearl Harbor,” and “Scooby Doo.” He also played small roles in popular TV series like “Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman,” as well as “Burn Notice.”
In 2003, he was cast as Leatherface in the horror movie remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. This was one of his most famous roles.
Controversies
Bryniarski and his girlfriend were arrested in 2012 on charges of animal cruelty and misdemeanor. The charges were dropped after the Philadelphia-born actor claimed he had made a deal with a local rescue shelter to house some dogs.
He was also at the center of a social media war when he posted an insensitive comment following the death of Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movie.
