About Andy Williams
Howard Andrew Williams was eleven years old when he joined his three brothers to form the quartet, The Williams Brothers, in 1938. After successes by the group as nightclub acts and recording artists, Williams launched a solo career in 1953.
He was known best for hits such as “Moon River”, “Where Do I Begin” and “Can’t Get Used to Losing You”.
He was also the host of his eponymous television variety show, “The Andy Williams Show” from 1962 to 1971.
Family Life
He was the son of Florence and Jay Williams. He was married to singer Claudine Longet from 1961 to 1975. They had three children. His second wife was Debbie Meyer, whom he was married to from 1991 until his death.
Achievements
He was a six-time Grammy Award nominee. He also received three Emmy Awards for “The Andy Williams Show”.
Death
He died on 25 September 2012 from bladder cancer. He was 84 years old.
