Anna Freud was one of the world’s most brilliant psychoanalysts of the 20th century. She was famously known as the founder of “psychoanalytic child psychoanalysis.” She also made profound contributions to helping psychologists understand the workings of the ‘ego’ and its various lines of development.

In 1925, she taught child analysis at the Vienna Psychoanalytic Training Institute. However, between 1925 and 1934, she was the secretary of the “International Psychoanalytical Association.” Her first book, “An Introduction to the Technique of Child Analysis,” described her approach to child psychoanalysis and won her several accolades
Her most notable work was “The Ego and Defense Mechanisms,” which gave a great understanding of the concept of “ego” in psychology.
