About Anna Netrebko
Anna Netrebko’s rise to stardom started in 1994 after she was discovered by Russian opera director Valery Gergiev. That same year, she had her first stage performance in the opera titled “The Marriage of Figaro”. In 1995, she performed in the United States for the first time before she was sent to the Merola Opera Program the following year.
The Russian operatic performer rose to stardom in 2002 when she starred as Natasha in Metropolitan Opera’s “War and Peace”. Since then, Netrebko has worked with some top opera companies such as the London’s Royal Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. She has also performed at the Salzburg Festival on many occasions.
Family
Her romantic relationship with Simone Alberghini ended in 2007. She had a son called Tiago Aruã with Erwin Schrott in 2008. Seven years later, she got married to Yusif Eyvazov.
Education
She attended the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
Achievements
Her performance has earned her many accolades which include the State Prize of the Russian Federation, Bambi Award, the Russian National Music Award, and the Polar Music Prize.
Trivia
She was a janitor at the Saint Petersburg-based Mariinsky Theatre before starting her career.
Her fans refer to her as “La Bellissima”.
