The Texas-born actress was one of the earliest faces on television screens and horror films during the 1940s. She also served as a well-known pin-up model during World War II.
Family
Gwynne was the daughter of Pearl and Jefferson Trice. Her brother was called Jefferson. She married Max M. Gilford in 1945 and they had two children.
Education
She studied drama at Stephens College in Missouri.
Career
Early in her career, the actress got a modeling contract with women’s swimwear brand, Catalina Swimwear. She later starred as Kitty in the 1939 American comedy drama film “Unexpected Father”. The film, which was directed by Charles Lamont, also starred Shirley Ross and Donald Briggs.
Gwynne performed her first role in a horror film in “Black Friday” (1940), playing the role of Jean Sovac alongside actors Boris Karloff and Anne Nagel.
She also played the role of Pat Kelly in the television series “Public Prosecutor” directed by Lew Landers and presented by Warren Hull from 1947–1948 on NBC.
