About Annika Sorenstam
Member of the 2003 World Golf Hall of Fame inductees, Annika Charlotta Sörenstam is a Swedish-born professional golfer. She cemented her reputation as one of the best women golfers of her era after winning over 50 tournaments in her career.
Early Life and Junior Career
She was born to Tom and Gunilla Sörenstam. She came from a family of sports enthusiasts and trained with her sister, Charlotta, who also became a professional golfer.
Sörenstam began playing golf at Viksjö Golf Club and later began competing in junior tournaments. She enrolled at the University of Arizona and continued her golfing aspirations.
Professional Career
Sörenstam was with the Swedish National Team from 1987 to 1992 and appeared on the Swedish Golf Tour, winning more than 2 tournaments during the 1991 season. She turned professional in 1992, joined the LPGA Tour, and won over 60 games. She later moved on to other tours, such as the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Japan Tour. She also won the Women's British Open in 2003.
Personal Life
Sörenstam was married to David Esch from 1997 to 2005. After the divorce, she tied the knot with Mike McGee in 2009.

Sörenstam won the Ladies European Tour Player of the Year in 1995 and 2002
Sörenstam also won the LPGA Tour Player of the Year in 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
