About Ante Pavelić
Croatian politician Ante Pavelic began his career as a lawyer in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, where he was also known for his alignment with nationalist views as a member of the Party of Rights. He became the leader of the Ustase, a fascist ultranationalist organization which he founded in 1929.
Pavelic was in office as the 1st Prime Minister of the Independent State of Croatia from 1941 to 1943. He adopted the title of Poglavnik while serving as the supreme leader of the Independent State of Croatia from April 1941 to May 1945. He was responsible for the genocide of several racial minorities during World War II.
Family Life
He was the son of Marija and Mile Pavelic. The politician was married to his wife, Maria from 1922 until his death in 1959. He had three children.
Cause of Death
The politician died at 70 years old, having failed to recover from his injuries following an assassination attempt two years prior.
