About Anthony Bowens
Pro wrestler Anthony Bowens, famous for being one half of the wrestling duo The Acclaimed alongside teammate Max Caster, had stints with wrestling promotions such as the Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) before winning the tag team championship at the 2022 All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Grand Slam.
Early Life
He is a Nutley native. He went to Montclair State University and Nutley High School. Over the course of his eleven-year career, he spent two seasons playing for both the Red Hawks and the Pirates. He was discovered by Santino Marella, a professional wrestler, and trained with Pat Buck.
Career
He began his training in 2012, and for Kevin Knight's Independent Wrestling Federation, he made his professional wrestling debut in 2013. In 2014, at the IWF 17th Annual "Loud n' Proud" Spring Spectacular, he earned his first major title by defeating Marc Corino to claim the IWF Junior Heavyweight Championship.
On the December 21st NXT episode, he made his WWE debut. In 2020, he signed a five-year contract with AEW, and The Acclaimed won their first tag team title in 2022.
Achievements
Because of his tag team victory, he became the first gay wrestler to win an AEW championship.
