About Anthony Zerbe
Anthony Zerbe is an American actor known for playing villainous characters. He is most known for playing the role of Councillor Hamann in “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions”, both of which were directed and written by the Wachowskis.
Early Life and Education
Anthony Zerbe is a product of Newport Harbor High School and Pomona College in 1958, Claremont. In New York, he got additional acting training at the Stella Adler Studio.
By age 17, he had developed a love for acting in stage productions.
Career: Films and Television
He played Damnil in the 1971 film “Omega Man” and Senator McKellar in “Listen to Me” in 1989. The seasoned actor has played in over twenty-five films since the 1960s.
Also, he has featured in many TV series from 1963. He played varying characters in the 1960s and 1970s espionage TV series "Mission Impossible", including Colonel Helmut and Alex Vorda. He appeared in three episodes in "Cannon".
He also had roles in TV series such as "Centennial", "Frasier" and "Judging Amy".
Awards
In 1976, Anthony won the Primetime Emmy Awards; Outstanding Continuing Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for playing Lt. Trench in "Harry O".
He also won the Western Heritage Awards Bronze Wrangler in 1993 for "Young Riders" episode "Shadowmen".
Trivia
Anthony Zerbe served for about 3 years in the US Air Force. It’s said that those experiences ultimately influenced most of his callous character roles in his films.
In 1962, he married Arnette Jens, the sister of “Star Trek” guest star Salome Jens.
