About Aristide Briand
Nobel Peace Prize winner Aristide Pierre Henri Briand made his name known when he served as a French statesman who served 11 terms as the prime minister of France.
Early Life and Education
The politician lived out more of his youth in France and went on to study law at the Paris Law faculty. He enjoyed politics and soon associated himself with most political movements while backing it up with his written articles for the journal Le Peuple.
Political Career
Briand joined the French Socialist Party from 1902 to 1904 and later became a member of the Republican-Socialist Party from 1911 to 1932. Briand held the position of Minister of Justice in 1908 and from 1912 to 1913. He also continued the role from 1914 to 1915. He also served as minister of foreign affairs in France from 1926 to 1932 and finally served as the Prime Minister of France from 1909 to 1929.
Death
Briand died in 1932 from a short illness.
Trivia
Briand became a freemason in the lodge Le Trait d'Union in July 1887.
