About Avram Grant
Grant started his coaching career at the age of 18 years. Israeli soccer coach recorded a number of successes in his native country before rising to fame in 2007 when he served as a stop-gap coach for English side Chelsea FC. Before taking over that position, he served as the club’s director of football. During his one year spell as the coach, he qualified Chelsea to the Champions League finals in 2008.
Aside from that, he has worked as a coach for some soccer clubs and countries including Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, England’s West Ham United and the Ghana Black Stars.
Family
At birth, he was named Avraham Granat and he is the son of Meir Granat.
Achievements
In April 2008, he was voted the Premier League’s “Manager of the Month”. With Partizan Belgrade, he won the Serbian SuperLiga in 2011/12.
Trivia
In 2006, he worked as the technical director for English side Portsmouth FC.
He reached the finals of the African Cup of Nations with Ghana in 2015.
He’s the first Asian coach to manage in the Indian Super League.
In 2010, he became the second non-British coach to handle West Ham United.
