About Barbara Bel Geddes
Barbara Bel Geddes rose to stardom in 1946 when she starred in Broadway’s “Deep Are the Roots”. She would win a number of awards for her performance in the production. After showcasing her talent on Broadway, she moved on to Hollywood with “The Long Night” being her first onscreen work.
She worked in the movie industry for close to five decades. She’s best remembered for her role in the TV series entitled “Dallas” where she appeared as Miss Ellie Ewing. Other well-known movies and television shows she appeared in include “Vertigo” and “I Remember Mama”.
Family
She was the daughter of celebrity designer Norman Bel Geddes and his wife Helen Belle Schneider. She was married to Windsor Lewis from 1951 and 1972. Before that, she was married to Carl Sawyer. Her children were Susan and Betsy.
Achievements
Her eye-catching performances earned her many awards which included Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and the Soap Opera Digest Awards.
Death
She was diagnosed with lung cancer which later caused her death in 2005.
