Barry Sanders spent his nine-year career playing for the Detroit Lions, under the National Football League (NFL). During the course of his career, he is noted to have occupied the running back position. He boasts of a colorful career after having been a recipient of several awards and accolades. He is noted to have played for Detroit Lions between 1989 and 1998.

His father is William Sanders while his mother is Shirley Sanders. His siblings are Nancy, Boyd, Lynn and Byron Sanders. He married former news anchor, Lauren Campbell in 2000 and they both parted ways in 2012. His children are namely, Nigel, Noah, Nicholas, and former American football running back, Barry J. Sanders.
Achievements
He became an inductee of the "Kansas Sports Hall of Fame" in 1989 and the "College Football Hall of Fame" as well as the "Michigan Sports Hall of Fame" in 2003.
He was named the "NFL Most Valuable Player" in 1997 and "NFL Offensive Player of the Year" in 1994 and 1997.

He was offered scholarship by Iowa State University, University of Tulsa, Emporia State University and Oklahoma State University-Stillwater.
