About Ben Hogan
For forty-one years (1930-1971), Ben Hogan played as a professional golfer. The American sports personality has been named amongst the all-time greatest players in golf history.
He achieved significant successes in all the four major golf championships: the PGA Championship, the Masters Tournament, the Open Championship and the U.S. Open. He is remembered for having influenced golf swing theory and his outstanding ability at striking the ball.
Family Life
He grew up in Texas as the youngest of three children born to Clara Williams, a seamstress and Chester Hogan, a blacksmith. The latter shot himself and died when Ben was nine years old. He was married to Valerie Fox for sixty-two years (1935-1997).
Achievements
He won a total of nine major championships and is one of just five players in the history of golf to have won every major championship.
Death
He died on July 25, 1997 at the age of 84.
