About Ben Riley
Ben Riley was one of the founders of the Sphere music group which was to honor Thelonious Monk, one of America’s finest pianists. Monk and Riley performed together from 1964 to 1967. He helped the group to release an album in 1982 which was entitled “Four in One”.
He also performed with the New York Jazz Quartet during the 1970s and 80s. The American drummer went on to perform with many popular musicians including Ahmad Jamal, Alice Coltrane, and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis.

His full name was Benjamin Alexander Riley Jr.
Death
He was unable to survive a lung disease he suffered earlier. He was also diagnosed with diabetes.
