About Benjamin Guggenheim
Benjamin Guggenheim was a popular American businessman who inherited a huge amount of wealth from his dad. Nonetheless, he was best known for his heroism during the sinking of the famous RMS Titanic.
As a passenger on the ship, Guggenheim sacrificed his life to save a number of children and women which was disclosed by Rose Amelie Icard, a survivor.
Family
He was one of the children of Barbara Myers and her husband Meyer Guggenheim, who was a rich mining magnate. In 1894, he married Florette Seligman with whom he had three children including art collectors Barbara Hazel Guggenheim, and Peggy Guggenheim. He was also in a relationship with singer Léontine Aubart.
Education
Guggenheim studied at Columbia College before moving to Peirce College (then known as Peirce School of Business).

Michael Ensign portrayed his character in the 1997 film titled “Titanic”.
After rescuing the children and women, he went back to dress in his best outfit and stated that "We've dressed up in our best and are prepared to go down like gentlemen".
