About Benjamin Spock
Benjamin Spock is credited with revolutionizing parenting in the United States with his non-conformist pediatric approach which largely veered off the inflexible practice of his peers. Through his 1946 book, “The Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care”, he advocated for affection, flexibility and understanding towards children.
He received harsh criticism for the book and his doctrines were blamed for making young people join the anti-Vietnam War movements. He was a candidate of the People’s Party for the 1972 US Presidential Election.
