About Bennie Moten
Bennie Moten was a popular American pianist, known for his association with the Kansas City Orchestra. He was also praised for popularizing the riff style. Despite developing a love for music at a very young age, the Kansas City-born jazz pianist recorded his first work in 1923 when he was in his late 20s.
Three years later, he was signed by Victor Records where he would record some of his successful songs including "Kansas City Shuffle" which was released in 1926. With the aforementioned orchestra, he recorded quite a number of great tunes including "The Blue Room" and "Moten Swing".
