Bess Myerson was a model and a politician of an American nationality. She gained recognition in 1945 when she became the first Jewish "Miss America". Also, she made screen appearances in the 1950s and 1960s. She became a state official in New York from 1960 to 1980.
Education
She was educated at the High School of Music and Art, New York. She furthered her studies at Hunter College, where she studied music.
Personal Life
She was the offspring of Bella and Louis Myerson. She has three siblings including Sylvia and Helen. In 1946, she got married to Allan Wayne, but divorced him in 1957. She again got married to attorney Arnold Grant but later divorced him.
In 1988, she was detained for stealing items from a retail center in South Williamsport. She was also accused of engaging in a conspiracy and bribery acts. She was a survivor of ovarian cancer and mild stroke in the 1970 and 1981, respectively.
Death
She died in 2014 at the age of 90.
