He is an American instrumentalist who is known for his talent in drumming and has gained a reputation as a member of the collective Grateful Dead.
Personal Life
William Kreutzmann Jr. was the name he was given when he was born to William Kreutzmann Sr. and Janice Beryl. He liked to play drums since he was very young. He further got inspired when Aldous Leonard Huxley, a philosopher and writer, heard him playing and informed him that he was an exceptional player despite the fact that his teacher had dissuaded him and told him he could not keep a beat.
Career
Kreutzmann became part of the founders of the band named The Warlocks, which eventually got renamed Grateful Dead. When Jerry Garcia who was part of the band passed away in 1995, the band fell apart. In 1999, he worked on “Backbone” then in 1980, he worked with Rhythm Devils on “The Apocalypse Now Sessions: The Rhythm Devils Play River Music”.
Achievements
Kreutzmann and his Grateful Dead band members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 for their work and in 2007, they received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
