About Bill Moyers
Bill Moyers is a famous American journalist who has worked with many media organizations such as NBC News, PBS and CBS. He’s best known as the host of PBS’ “NOW with Bill Moyers”. Other popular television programs that he has appeared on include the “Bill Moyers Journal” and the “Wide Angle”.
Other works
In 1961, when President Kennedy inaugurated the Peace Corps, he appointed Moyers as one of the public affairs directors. He later served as Sargent Shrivers’ assistant. In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him as the White House Press Secretary, a position he served for two years.
Family
His parents are Ruby Johnson Moyers and John Henry Moyers. He has been married to Judith Suzanne Davidson since 1954 and together they have raised three kids including CNN’s producer William Cope Moyers.
Education
He had his journalism training at North Texas State College and continued at the University of Texas, Austin. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Awards
Moyers has received many laurels which include the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism and the Peabody Award. He became a member of the Television Hall of Fame in 1995.
Trivia
His journalism career started at the age of 16 years when he was hired by Marshall News Messenger.
Between 1967 and 1970, he worked with the Newsday newspaper.
