Billie Jean King goes into the history books as one of the world’s most successful tennis players. Throughout her playing career, the American won thirty-nine Grand Slam trophies of which 27 came as a double player. In 1967, she was ranked number one in the world. On the international stage, she represented the United States in lots of competitions including the Wightman Cup and Federation Cup. She’s also celebrated for her role in the development of women’s tennis in the world.
