Billy Dean (born William Harold Dean, Jr.) is an American country music singer-songwriter who gained recognition after appearing on the television talent show “Star Search”. Since 1991, he has released eight studio albums and charted more than twenty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
Family Life
At age 8, he began playing in his father's band. He attended college for one year before quitting to pursue music.
Career
He signed with Liberty Records, his first single, "Only Here For a Little While," reached the Top 5. Similarly, "Somewhere in My Broken Heart," performed well, receiving the 1992 Academy of Country Music Song of the Year honor.
In 2000, he and Alison Krauss had cameo performances on Kenny Rogers' single "Buy Me a Rose,". In 2004, he released "Let Them Be Little."
He has worked with a number of artists, including country singer and legend Dolly Parton.
