Billy Dale Vessels as he was named at birth gained interest in football when he was a very young boy and focused on it especially because things were not too good at home. When he got to his teenage years, his family decided to relocate but he opted to stay where he was. He moved from one family’s home to another while he did odd jobs to fend for himself. It is also believed that the people in the town he stayed in cared for him and helped with his financial challenges. He later married a lady by name Suzanne and birthed three children with her.
Career
His playing career started when he joined University of Oklahoma and in 1952, he became the winner of the Heisman Trophy. He continued playing in 1953 with Edmonton Eskimos before Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen the following year then Baltimore Colts in 1956.
