About Bob Kalsu
Bob Kalsu was an American professional football player. However, he is best remembered as being one of the two footballers to have been killed in the Vietnam War.
Early Life
Kalsu grew up in Oklahoma City. His family was athletic, so it was no surprise that he took an interest in sports as a young boy, especially golf. He also played basketball and eventually, football.
College & Professional Career
He enrolled at Oklahoma University in 1963 to play college football and was made captain of the team in 1967. He was known for his skillful play and strict approaches to games. Following his graduation, he was selected to play for the Buffalo Bills in the 1968 NFL Draft. By the end of his first season, he was voted rookie of the year.
The Vietnam War
While in college, Kalsu joined the ROTC program and was made the second lieutenant after graduating. After his first pro season, he volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, he died in 1970 after an enemy attack.
