Bob Weighton was a British supercentenarian who was crowned the oldest living man in the world in February 2020 following the demise of 112 year old Japanese supercentenarian, Chitetsu Watanabe (the previous holder of that title). Prior to that, Weighton was recognized as the oldest man alive in Britain.
Family Life
He grew up with six siblings. In 1937, he married a teacher named Agnes. He and Agnes produced three children: David, Dorothy and Peter. His marriage to Agnes ended with her death in 1995. By 2016, he had as many as 25 great-grandsons/daughters.
Trivia
According to him, he never intended or strived to live to become the oldest man in the world.
He also revealed that he did not feel a sense of satisfaction from being the holder of the title of the “World’s Oldest Man” because someone else had to die for him to be honored with said title.
Weighton, who once worked as an engineer, was against United Kingdom's departure from the EU (Brexit).
He passed away tranquilly, in his home, at the age of 112 years old.
