American singer-songwriter, Bobbie Gentry is uniquely prominent for her outstanding musical talent and also for being among the first female artists who composed and producer their own works.
Gentry acquired international stardom in 1967 when she released her first studio album, "Ode to Billie Joe". The said work earned her several accolades and went ahead to chart at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 where it spent about four weeks.
Aside from music, she eventually ventured into shows, where she successfully ran series of shows on the Las Vegas Strip.
She has released other notable albums such as "The Delta Sweete" (1968), "Local Gentry" (1968), "Touch 'Em with Love" (1969), "Fancy" (1970), "Patchwork" (1971), and more.

Gentry was born to Robert Streeter and Ruby Lee. She was in a short-lived marriage with American businessman, Bill Harrah between 1969 and 1970. She entered into another short-lived marriage that spanned between 1976 and 1978.
She was married to American musician, singer and comedian, Jim Stafford between 1978 and 1980. She is known to have a son named Tyler Stafford.

She was honored with two awards, "Most Promising Female Vocalist" and "Album of the Year", at the 1967 Academy of Country Music Awards.
