About Boris Diaw
Boris Diaw joined the NBA in 2003 following his impressive performance in the LNB Pro A. He was drafted into the league by the Atlanta Hawks and made his debut later that year. With the San Antonio Spurs, the French basketball star recorded his greatest achievement, winning the NBA championship in 2014.
He also featured for teams like Utah Jazz, the Phoenix Suns and JSA Bordeaux in his native France.
International career
Diaw was promoted to the French men’s basketball team after winning the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship in 2000. Six years later, he was named the captain of the senior side. He helped the team to win the EuroBasket in 2013. He was also a member of France’s bronze winning team at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
Other works
After retiring from the sport in 2018, the former French power forward has served in different executive positions. In 2019, he was appointed as the president of LNB Pro A side Metropolitans 92.
Personal Life
His full name is Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod and is the son of France basketball legend Élisabeth Riffiod. His father, who was a long-jump athlete, is called Issa Diaw. He has a brother who’s also known to be a basketball player.
Achievements
He was named the NBA Most Improved Player in 2006. He also won two French League titles and was voted the MVP in 2003.
