About Brian Lamb
American journalist Brian Lamb gained notice as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the American television network Cable – Satellite Public Affairs Network (C-SPAN) which he founded in 1979.
Family and Education
Lamb grew up in Lafayette, Indiana and had his senior high education at Jefferson High School. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B. Arts) in Speech from Purdue University.
The American journalist exchanged wedding vows with Victoria Lamb in 2005.
Career Highlights
After Lamb graduated from the University, he served for four years in the United States Navy and he was discharged as a junior Lieutenant in 1967. From that year, he started with his journalism career and his first journalistic work was at a local television station in Lafayette.
Brian Lamb always desired to own a public affairs cable network and truly he established the C-SPAN network. Although he was the founder, he also worked as a host and some shows he hosted were “Booknotes” and “Q&A”. In the latter, he interviewed prominent persons like George H. W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Margaret Thatcher.
After running the network for 33 years, he retired.
Achievement
In 2003, the renowned journalist received the National Humanities Medal.
He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2007. The honor was given to him by then-U.S. President George W. Bush.
