About Bruce Hornsby
Bruce Hornsby is an award-winning American singer known as the originator of the Bruce Hornsby and the Range band in 1984. He has also worked with some popular bands like Grateful Dead, and The Noisemakers. The American is best known for his bluegrass album with Ricky Skaggs titled “Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby” which was released in 2007.
Solo career
Hornsby has embarked on a successful career as an independent performer. In 1993, he issued his maiden solo album dubbed “Harbor Lights”. By the end of 2020, he had produced five studio albums which includes “Hot House” and “Spirit Trail”.
Family
His parents Lois Saunier and Robert Stanley Hornsby were both into music. He is the brother of American composer John Hornsby, and Robert Saunier Hornsby. In 1983, he tied the knot with Kathy Yankovic, and together they have two kids.
Education
He was trained at a number of institutions such as Berklee College of Music, the University of Miami, and the University of Richmond.
Awards
Hornsby won the “Best Bluegrass Recording” and “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” prizes at the 1990 and 1994 Grammy Awards respectively. He was also the recipient of the scheme’s “Best New Artist” accolade in 1987.
