About Buck Shaw
Lawrence Timothy "Buck" Shaw was a very successful American football player who completed his career as a coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is regarded as a key figure in the history of American collegiate football due to his extensive experience coaching collegiate teams, including North Carolina State.
Background
He enrolled at Notre Dame, where he made a name for himself as a 6' 175-pound lineman for Knute Rockne. During his varsity career, he set a record by making 38 of 39 extra points. In the ensuing four decades, he served as a college coach at Santa Clara University, North Carolina State and the University of California. He then went on to serve as the coach of the San Francisco 49ers, the Air Force Academy, and ultimately the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a combined record of 90-55-5 throughout the course of his coaching seasons.

In 1960, he was named NFL Coach of the Year. This honor came on the back of his impressive showing with the Eagles, leading them to the NFL championship in 1960.
