Family and Education
He was born to Rena and Glenn Harrelson. He obtained education from Sunset Elementary School and San Francisco State University.
After an unsuccessful marriage with his first wife, Yvonne, he began a new marital relationship with Kim Battaglia in 1975. He was the father of six children.
Baseball Career
Bud Harrelson started off as a baseball player with the New York Mets in 1965, remaining a part of the team until 1977, playing a total of 13 seasons. During his spell there, he received a number of awards including a Gold Glove and the Most Valuable Player. Harrelson played for other teams such as the Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers.
He retired from baseball in 1980. Following his retirement, he coached the New York Mets and co-owned the Long Island Ducks.
Achievements
The former baseball player won the World Series Championship two times and was elected into the New York Mets Hall of Fame.
Trivia
Bud Harrelson is considered to be the first player in the New York Mets franchise history to have participated in four play-off seasons.
