About Buffalo Bill
Buffalo Bill (real name William Frederick Cody) was a legendary American buffalo hunter, Army scout and showman who served with the Union Army during the American Civil War and worked as a scout for the US Army during the Indian Wars, for which he was awarded a Medal of Honor in 1872 for gallantry. He got his nickname "Buffalo Bill" after he purportedly killed over 4,000 buffalos within a period of 18 months to feed the Kansas Pacific Railroad workers. In 1883, he founded his show Buffalo Bill's Wild West and toured throughout the United States and Europe.
Personal Life
In 1866, he married Louisa Frederici and fathered four children with her. He remained married to Louisa until his death in 1917.
