About Bugsy Siegel
Bugsy Siegel was an iconic American mobster notorious for activities such as bootlegging, gambling and assassinations. He rose rapidly to the status of one of the most feared mobsters of his generation and became one of the founders of the organized criminal organization Murder, Incorporated. He assisted businessman William R. Wilkerson in establishing the Flamingo Hotel and later took over the business. He was shot dead months after the Flamingo opened for business. He was 41.
Family Life
He was the second of five children born to Jennie Riechenthal and Max Siegel. He married his childhood sweetheart Esta Krakower in 1929. The marriage produced two daughters and ended in 1946.
Trivia
He hated his nickname "Bugsy" and preferred to be called "Mr. Siegel".
