Burt Munro Rank
About Burt Munro
Burt Munro had an inherent desire for speed since his childhood. The family farm on which he grew bored him so he tried to find ways, such as riding the fastest horse on the farm, to entertain himself. He pursued a professional career in speedway riding but had to go back home during the Great Depression. He later worked as a motorcycle salesman so as to acquire funds to modify his 600 cc Indian Scout motorcycle. It took him 20 years to bring it up to his desired speed: 950 cc. He is famous for being the record holder of the under-1000 cc class (305.89 km/h) which he set on August 26, 1967 at 68 years old.
